Winter Vacations Extended for Public and Private Schools in Lahore

The Lahore High Court LHC has ordered the Punjab Government to extend the winter vacations from 2 January 2023 to 8 January 2023. Currently, all schools and colleges in Punjab are observing winter vacations from 24th December 2022 to 1st January 2023.

LHC Honourable Justice Shahid Kareem has ruled in a hearing that schools should be closed from 2nd January 2023 to 8 January due to the cold weather and smog situation in Lahore.

Punjab School Education Department and Punjab Higher Education Department have already notified winter vacations from 24th December to 31st December. 1st January 2023 is Sunday and academic activities will be resumed from 2nd January 2023 as per the previous routine.

But the current situation of weather is going colder and smog and fog are creating problems. Therefore, School and Higher education department should consider an extension in the winter vacations.

It is also important to know that LHC has ordered Punjab Govt to extend winter vacations only for Lahore Schools. But govt should also consider other districts and city conditions.
