According to the latest news about Punjab Teachers, The Rawalpindi Bench of Lahore High Court (LHC ) issued a statement that there will be no more involvement of Teachers in any Non – Academic campaigns like Polio, Dengue, etc in Punjab.
A petition was filed by the President of the Punjab Teacher’s Union, Raja Tahir to ban all non-academic activities and duties of Teachers. It is very common to see that most of time teachers are invloved in Polio compaign along with Health Department staff. According to the details , Judge of rawalpindi Bench Mr.Mirza Waqas ruled that teachers are not required to involved in such activities.
However according to the Article 220 of the 1973 Constitution teachers will be required to assist the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Federal and Provincial authorities are required to assist the ECP whenever and wheeever required.
